This is the first post on Picateers, so I thought it would be important for me to give you a little information about the sit, how we can help each other out and what you will find.
It’s a busy life being a photographer, especially in the wedding or commercial areas, so time is a premium and it’s not getting any easier, is it. Technology seems to change on a daily basis, new software is sprouting like weeds in the garden and our customers are becoming more demanding by the day.
The days of being the one in control are disappearing fast!
I mean, there was once a time when you could take your photo’s, go away and have them developed, or develop them yourself, print them and present them to the client over a number of days or weeks, depending on the size of the job. The client would then be presented with the results and you’d discuss them, usually face-to-face and decide on the winners.
It just seemed more civilised. But now, everbody wants the results yesterday; they want them delivered digitally, and usually there’s little face-to-face interaction. Don’t get me wrong, the digital era has some amazing benefits, it just seems some of the personal attention had relationship building has been lost.
Anyway, that’s what I hope to tackle. I want time back with clients, so the whole point of Picateers is to create a collaboration of the most interesting and useful features of being a commercial photographer, and give you some of that muh needed time to form deeper relationships with clients.
Hopefully, this gives you a little taster of things to come and I look forward to sharing with you.
